And if we don't see production soon from the DH and 3B, I think that Ronnie Mauricio should be next. Let Volgelbus and Escobar platoon, with Mauricio playing 3b vs LHP and playing 2b vs RHP.

I'm still surprised that nobody made it initially but Alvarez being here for the home opener will make it feel like he was here all along.

Watching the Syracuse Mets vs AAA Yankees on MLB.tv tonight. Top of the second, and Ronnie Mauricio hit 111 mph rope for a 420+ homerun...top of the first, Baty hit a RBI double to left center...
Every time that I see Mauricio drill one, he reminds me of a young Daryl Strawberry

It's starting to feel like Mauricio in CF and Nimmo in LF is the future. I just read that Baty is supposedly coming up here within the week so the future might be coming soon.

Haven't seen anything more official than Mama Megill showing a rack full of Baty Jersey's ready to go...

It's not official until Kate Upton confirms it.

According to an Andy Martino leak, Baty will be in a Mets uniform tomorrow in LA...
I watched the Syracuse Mets double header today and Baty was nowhere to be found, Vientos was playing third, after playing almost exclusively at first this season.

Yeah it's official now. Playing in LA is baptism by fire but at least it'll keep him out of the home NY spotlight for a little while. Let's see how this incarnation goes but he sure does look good.

MMN Recap: Mark Vientos Clubs Sixth Homer metsminors.net/mmn-recap-mark-vientos-clubs-sixth-homer/The Syracuse Mets’ continue to be an offensive juggernaut, scoring eight runs on 12 hits in a see-saw battle against the Durham Bulls that went into extra innings. Entering last night’s contest, the Mets lead the International League in home runs (26), batting average (.296), and slugging (.528) as a team. With Brett Baty and Francisco Álvarez now in the majors, Mark Vientos and Ronny Mauricio continued to mash and lead the attack for the Mets. Triple A: Durham (9-6) 9, Syracuse (10-6) 8, 10 Inn Box Score 2B Danny Mendick 2-for-4, 2 R, .906 OPS 3B Mark Vientos 2-for-3, 2 R, 1 HR, 2B, 4 RBI, 2 BB, 1.210 OPS CF Jaylin Davis 2-for-4, 2 R, 1 HR, 2 RBI, 1 BB, 1 SB, .859 OPS SS Ronny Mauricio 2-for-5, 2B, 1.193 OPS Vientos opened the scoring last night by lacing a two-run double in the first inning, and then, later in the fourth, with two outs, drilled an opposite-field homer that traveled 415 feet for his sixth homer of the year that tied the game at seven apiece. With two hits and adding a pair of walks on the night, his OPS is up to 1.210. On Monday, Vientos was featured on MLB Pipeline’s Prospect Team of the Week, where in nine games from April 6-16, he went 13-for-33, with four home runs, two doubles, and ten RBIs. The 28-year-old Davis hit a 417-foot two-run blast to put Syracuse up 4-0 in the opening frame, his second jack in three games. Mauricio was one of four Mets to record a multi-hit game, with two more doubles to give him seven on the year. Unfortunately, he struck out three times. Second baseman Jonathan Araúz extended his hit streak to seven games with an RBI base knock in the second. In those seven games, he is 12-for-27 with four extra-base hits and seven RBIs.

bbref.com/pi/shareit/SdMzWI made a chart of how the top guys 25 years old and younger have been doing for the Syracuse Mets R H 2B HR RBI SB BB BA OPS TB
Vientos 14 20 4 6 17 0 7 .364 1.210 42 Mauricio 13 22 7 6 14 2 4 .355 1.193 49 Cedrola 11 15 3 2 7 7 4 .319 .918 24 Baty 9 14 2 5 15 2 7 .400 1.386 31 Araúz 9 21 5 1 12 0 7 .368 .940 29 Álvarez 4 4 1 2 4 1 3 .250 1.056 11
Vientos has played mostly 3B and first base (although he has also played LF and shortstop in his minor league career); Mauricio has played only shortstop, although he did play third base in the Winter Leagues; Arauz is a 24 year old utility infielder that played for the Orioles and Red Sox organizations; Cedrola is a 25 year old Outfielder (mostly CF but has played all 3 positions) that played for the Reds and Red Sox organizations. Baty/Alvarez you already know where they play.

Mauricio adds to versatility, plays second base at Triple-A Vientos raking at Syracuse; Schwartz sees time in left field www.mlb.com/mets/news/ronny-mauricio-plays-second-base-for-triple-a-metsAnthony DiComo @anthonydicomo SAN FRANCISCO -- From the moment the Mets signed Francisco Lindor to a 10-year contract extension before the 2021 season, it seemed obvious that the team would eventually need to move blue-chip prospect Ronny Mauricio off his natural position of shortstop. But it didn’t happen that year. It didn’t happen the next year. It didn’t even happen this spring, as Mauricio edged ever closer to the big leagues with a standout camp. Finally, on Friday, it happened: The Mets moved Mauricio, their sixth-ranked prospect, to second base for the first time in a Minor League game. “The plan is to move him around a little bit now,” manager Buck Showalter said. “It’s to increase his versatility -- something he’s good at.” In addition to second, Showalter mentioned first base, third base and the outfield as potential destinations for Mauricio, noting that Minor League infield coordinator Miguel Cairo thinks he is athletic enough to handle any of them. Mauricio did play a game at second during the most recent Dominican Winter League season, plus nine games at third -- the latter position his most comfortable home outside of shortstop. Soon, the Mets believe he could be one of the most versatile defenders in their entire farm system. “I can play any position,” Mauricio said in Spring Training, conducting an interview in English for one of the first times in his career. “I want to play in the big leagues, so I can play third base, outfield, second base.” For years, the Mets resisted that notion. Not only did they want Mauricio to focus on his offensive development, but they knew keeping him at shortstop in the short term couldn’t hurt his trade value. Now though, Mauricio is knocking on the door to the Majors, with six home runs and a .360/.407/.720 slash line over his first 20 games at Triple-A Syracuse. There’s little reason for the Mets to wait any longer. The time to begin Mauricio’s long-awaited migration off shortstop has arrived. Triple-A Syracuse With Brett Baty and Francisco Álvarez in the Majors, all eyes at Syracuse have shifted to Mauricio and No. 8 prospect Mark Vientos, who’s been just as successful at the plate. Vientos went 3-for-4 on Saturday to boost his slash line to .368/.457/.706 with six home runs. Only four players in the International League have more homers. Vientos does still possess a 24.7% strikeout rate at Syracuse, which has long been a concern for team evaluators. But if Vientos continues thriving in spite of that, it will be difficult for the Mets to hold him in the Minors much longer. Mark Vientos was on base four times for Syracuse today 💪 pic.twitter.com/3f84jvgVLF — SNY Mets (@sny_Mets) April 23, 2023 Double-A Binghamton Add JT Schwartz to the list of those whose defensive versatility the Mets aim to increase. The natural first baseman has made four appearances in left field this season, manning that position for the first time since he was in college. Schwartz, the Mets’ fourth-round pick in 2021 who is currently not ranked among their Top 30 prospects, drove home 15 runs over his first 12 games at Binghamton in his first taste of the upper Minors. High-A Brooklyn Earlier this week, Showalter name-checked No. 4 prospect Alex Ramírez for his hot start to the season, which included 15 hits over his first 12 games. On Saturday, Ramírez had his most memorable moment to date at Brooklyn, hitting an 11th-inning, walk-off single off the left-field fence. A true five-tool talent, Ramírez has the potential to be an impact player on both sides of the ball. There are still plenty of developmental milestones for Ramírez to achieve, but at age 20, he’s well on his way. Single-A St. Lucie The player to watch at St. Lucie this summer is clearly Jett Williams, a first-round pick last June (the Mets’ second selection behind Kevin Parada). Over his first 11 games of full-season ball, the 19-year-old Williams walked 13 times, demonstrating the type of plate discipline that could one day make him a feared leadoff hitter. (He’s attempted seven steals so far this season, though only three have been successful.) Williams made several appearances in Grapefruit League games this spring, impressing Showalter and others with his skills as a teenager

Who does everyone think will be up next? Vientos? Mauricio? Someone else (not counting players already up like Butto or Peterson)? The logical answer seems to be Vientos but I'm interested in what the general feeling is.

The logical answer seems to be Vientos but I'm interested in what the general feeling is. I really don't understand why Vientos isn't up yet...and I also don't understand why they haven't played him in left field yet this season...
