Lindor has been hot since August 1, with an OPS over 800 I think. Had the slash line but lost it. I know, piling up stats in garbage time but his season stats look very good and he has a WAR of 5.2. I think one good aspect with Lindor lately is that he seems to finally adjusting to the shift being reduced...for a fast guy, he had been swinging a little too much for the fences...a single with a steal is not copping out.

Yeah the hitting is a lot better, and they've done it (for the most part) against teams that are in playoff contention. There could be something about the pressure being off due to being out of the race, but I also wonder if the Verlander/Scherzer combination had a negative effect pressure-wise. You can't tell me their intensity and need to win NOW every game might not make players tense up.

Lindor got a bad wrap this season due to his lower batting average. He had plenty of stats all year long.
April - July (452 PA): .236/.323/.465 w/ 21 HR 17 SB (1CS) 65R 65RBI August-Sept (139 PA): .299/.360/.472 w/ 5 HR and 9 SB (1CS) 27R 18 RBI (Converted to even ratio 16HR 29 SB 3 CS 87R 58 RBI)
IE: Fewer HR and RBIs, more SB and Runs scored.
Is the latter better? Yes, I'd much rather have a 300 hitter doing that. But I'm taking either of those guys, especially when you factor gold glove defense at the most premium position? Abso-freaking-lutely

I agree Fang - I take the more SBs and runs scored with that defense and the show up and play everyday attitude that he has. I want Lindor to get on base, steal and score runs.

There's a certain kind of fan that will hold his salary against him every time he strikes out and it's ridiculous. It's the same fan that complains about the color of his hair or that he "smiles too much". He's a rock at SS and does it on both sides of the ball. Plus he's a team leader with his attitude. Yeah there were bumps in the road with McNeil early on but he's just what this team hoped for when they brought him on.
Those stats through July and after July are very interesting. I'm also good with either one, they're both signs of a productive player though I'd take the second one especially if this team can add another power bat in the middle of the lineup.
