it is funny how he created the hot topic, then once people voiced their difference of opinion..."it's just about time to shift our focus to other New Yourk baseball topics..." Oh yeah of course. Create an "issue", stir the pot and then act like it wasn't something he created. Now he gets to imply that his opinion has some effect on team decisions. I can't imagine a scenario where Alvarez is sent down. It would be different if catcher hadn't been a huge liability over the last few years and he swings it from a gaping hole to a positive.

In the last 6 games (plus he's not in today's lineup), Voglebus has had a total of 8 Plate Appearances: 1 walk; 4 strikeouts; zero hits; Seems like maybe, the hierarchy that makes the lineups for Terry, I mean Buck, are finally catching on that Voglebus is ready for the junk yard... surprisingly, the Mets have a winning record in games that Voglebus has started (19-15 record): www.baseball-reference.com/players/gl.fcgi?id=vogelda01&t=b&year=2023

So far in June,
Pham is our best hitter...3 Homers, 8 RBI, 3 doubles, 6 runs scored, 19 total bases, .350 average...
Marte has the most hits with 11 hits, 6 runs scored and .324 average...

Escobar is on a jet plane heading to the Angels for a couple minor league pitchers... hopefully the Angels 18th and 19th best prospects are an improvement over our lack of pitching prospects

I liked the move. Escobar is a good guy and teammate, but he was an extra cog here. While the prospects returned aren't great, they aren't terrible either, so hopefully we'll have found a diamond in the rough.

Some of the stats for the pitchers coming over are pretty good. It's a little underwhelming to get the 18th and 19th or so ranked guys from a system that's on the weak side but who knows?
Hey for a day there the Angels were averaging 25 runs per game after the trade. They're still averaging 14 per game.

who is hot? The Mets are hot! 5 in a row.
Win this series, and we go into the AS break in a position to make a move (4.5-5.5 out/3 teams to hop?). Lose this series, or worse, get swept, (7.5-8.5 out?) and all wind in our sails is gone and we're back to thinking about who we can sell.

Baty heating up? Hoping that K rate drops as its absolutely killer right now.

Baty heating up? Hoping that K rate drops as its absolutely killer right now. kind of funny that it happens right after social media has been mentioning that he might need a little more time in AAA (at the same time that Vientos has gone back to playing 3rd base regularly in AAA while picking up his bat where he left it in AAA)

anyone notice that DJ Stewart and Voglebus have heated up in the past couple weeks? and even Vientos looks a little more comfortable at the mlb level

the whole offense is clicking more. I have 2 theories.
1) Easier to perform when the pressure is off. (I didn't say the theories were outside the box). The fun is back on, and all the big dawgs are swinging a better bat. Voggy is a prime candidate for this IMO. No longer pressing, he's getting hits. I don't lump DJ Stewart in this theory, but see below for a couple thoughts there.
2) Opposing pitchers throw differently when they believe their offense will put up runs against our subpar remaining staff. They are looking just to throw strikes and get the game moving (spare the pen) as opposed to feel they have to nibble and be perfect. This leaves more hittable pitches, and our offense, whose 350M core is still largely intact, is taking advantage.
I'm really not sure what to make of DJ's surge, but as a former 1st round pick, does he end up with a ST invite for next year at the very least? Feels a bit premature to anoint this the REAL DJ, but definitely hearing rumblings from my fan friends. His streak for some reason feels longer than just 2-3 weeks, but fact checked myself and August 15th was the start of his en fuego. In that time, .333/.387/.860 w/ 9 HRs (which is 16 game pace of 91 HR over a full season 🤣). Side note, his fielding is sub replacement value (-.4 dWAR and it shows).

Lindor has been hot since August 1, with an OPS over 800 I think. Had the slash line but lost it. I know, piling up stats in garbage time but his season stats look very good and he has a WAR of 5.2.
