Is that true? Looking at WS years... obviously 2015 they over performed, no argument there, and you can't have been a miracle if everyone predicted the 69 team would be there...
But aside from that, in 2000, they were coming off a 97 win season. I think expectations were pretty high...
2006 they had a couple young studs, and were coming off a 83-79 season, had just added Pedro and Beltran in 2005 which were paying clear dividends, and then for 2006, they went out and signed Lo Duca, Delgado and Wagner, all big name upgrades over aging players. I think 2006 they were supposed to be real real good.
Also, 86, they weren't exactly upstarts, everyone knew to watch out for the mets that year...
I will say there are many many many many many more years I expected the mets to be GREAT where they stumbled hard.
For the record, it is REALLY disappointing this post is this short. :/ Fingers crossed by year end, we can add 2024 to the list of unexpectedly good WS team...

'73, '84...not much was expected either year...'73 with a few different calls/breaks, we could have dethroned the A's dynasty...'83 team was horrible, and we did pretty darn good despite missing the playoffs ( 90 wins nowadays is a playoff team)...

That would be nice. Tonight, they go for over .500 for the first time this season. We have Quintana on the mound, and would like to say I like our chances, but we're up against a rookie, and I feel like rookies historically own the mets. :/
Vegas like Mets to win... fingers continued to be crossed!

Not sure where to put this, so this seems as good a place as any. I know it doesn't REALLY mean anything, but all the same WTF?! * Preseason Power rankings for Mets: Ranked 16. No problem. This makes sense. Middle of pack. I get it. * After week 1+, ranking for Mets: Dropped down to 23rd. Makes sense. Horrible start, 1-5 home stand, sitting 2-7 at writing. Yea, gross. * Now, after week 2+, what are the ranking for Mets? Well, considering they just won series against the reds (#12), braves (#3), and KC (#6), fought back to 7-8 (7-3 since 0-5 start), you'd think they'd make massive moves upwards? Or, if not, at least back to middle of pack? Well, you'd be wrong (at least in the eyes of MLB.com). Not only didn't they move up significantly, they moved DOWN another spot down to 24... 😳 I know, end of the day only W-L matter, but still, no respect! Better respect this week. MLB has Mets at #10 (from 25). CBS at #11 (from 20). Just keep winning!
