and as long as they are in a division with Yanks, Red Sox and even the Rays, they could spend like the Dodgers and still probably come in 4th Although the Rays have shown you can do it with less. Baltimore FINALLY has quality at the top of the farm system but it sure has taken a long time. There's enough money down there to build the farm system and pepper the team with big(ger) free agents when the time is right. They've just done a miserable job with everything.

I've not been around much because this whole lock-out thing frustrates me. We have a trip to NYC which we booked for opening day. Going anyway because who knows when this is going to end but it will be our second trip in a row with no baseball.

sorry to hear that you already had booked your tickets and then they cancelled opening week (and likely more)...
just found out last night that my daughter and her husband just booked a flight to see his family in England this spring...because of covid restrictions, they haven't been able to visit his family since they got married

At least we've got a lot to do around here if the game wasn't happening, but now it should be a great baseball time.

We fly back home on the new opening day. We'll still go but will be back for games later in the season. At least there are games to watch when we get home and for the rest of the season.

Yeah it's the long play, plus it'll be warmer. It seems like every opening day I've been to has been freezing, but I don't go too often. I just welcome the return of GKR every year. Between the tourney and the start of the baseball season it's truly a great time of year.

Looks like younger players got a lot of expanded income potential, but overall, Owners got their expanded playoffs and from what I can tell, no REAL profit share with the players.

I just had a random thought - I wonder how many players would exercise their release options if they were set up like the NFL rookie 5th year rule, ie: you need to make your decision 1 year in advance of the event. Do you think DeGrom would have still proclaimed he was opting out? Or do you think he'd have stuck with the 90 million guaranteed in the bank.
I understand this is all COMPLETELY hypothetical, but I found the thought interesting. I don't know what he would do.
