Thoughts on the Mets getting Rocker at 10?
I thought he would go much higher based on the mock drafts I read. At 21 and 6'5 245lbs and the polish he has shown, he might be ready for the big leagues by sometime next season.

he's not John Rocker's kid, is he? hopefully not, since the nut doesn't usually fall too far from the nut tree

Ha - no, not John Rocker's kid. He was projected to go higher and a few analysts have said the Mets got a steal at 10. We've all seen many hyped prospects that never make it (Gernation K) but still something to keep an eye on.

Was any of generation K college kids? For some reason I thought they were all HS picks, but could be 100% wrong... never gave this much thought.
I will say I like that this kid has shown massive potential against better talent than the HS crapshoot. Think more along the lines of Matt Harvey resume before the injuries.

Wilson was #1 out of Florida State. Isringhausen came from a community college.

Well maybe this Rocker will be OK riding the 7 train.
It's pretty rare that I've seen any draft picks play since I almost never watch college baseball, but I did see him pitch a couple of times with all of the CWS coverage this year. He looked great, dominant at times and though a little raw his skills were there. I also thought he was supposed to go around pick 5-6 so this sure feels like a great get to me.

Some pundits had him at #1 earlier this year, and he was in the top 3-5 on most boards.
We may have got a steal, and I think he's already signed, too.
Eduardo Perez said on ESPN that he's so good he could help the rotation THIS year. I think that is overly aggressive, but shows how highly he is thought of.

I think that having Scot Boras as an agent had a lot to do with him dropping to 10th...he supposedly told teams what kind of signing bonus that he expected for his client...

That's true Sax and Uncle Steve did sign him to a higher than usual amount for the #10 slot. Seems that pissed off some teams as well.
I was wondering if he could pitch this year Brian, but then read that his high innings total already this season may rule that out.
