Ronny playing 3rd and batting 6th tonight...
I knew it was only a matter of time before got a look over there...
IMO, that will likely eventually be his position with Baty eventually being a left fielder.

Mets' Ronny Mauricio gets first opportunity at third base: 'He presents a lot of good options for us' The 22-year-old feels shortstop and third are his best positionswww.sny.tv/articles/mets-ronny-mauricio-crack-third-base-presents-good-optionsOne of the biggest question marks surrounding Mets rookie Ronny Mauricio is what position will he find a home in at the major-league level? On Friday, Mauricio will make his first big-league start at third base against the Cincinnati Reds. The 22-year-old has played only at second in his 10 games with the Mets thus far, and despite being primarily a shortstop, New York is giving him a go at third base where he played in just 11 games throughout the minors (although played more there during Winter Ball). “I have a pretty good idea of what Ronny can bring there,” Buck Showalter told reporters before Friday’s game. “We have trained eyes for third base…Hope to get him a game or two at shortstop before we’re done. Mo played a lot of third base at winter ball. It’s more of an adjustment to go to second than it is third.”
Mauricio has held his own at second base, albeit in a short sample size, having made zero errors and 18 putouts but feels even more confident manning the hot corner. “I feel, personally, that shortstop and third base are the two best positions I can play,” he told reporters before the game. “…I felt like [the transition] was seamless.”Whether or not Mauricio’s permanent home will be third base won’t be determined by just one game, according to Showalter. Brett Baty and Mark Vientos also play third base, making it a crowded position to figure out. But Mauricio has played all over the infield (except first base) and even left field as he presents plenty of options for the Mets. “I think he’ll present a lot of good options for us going forward,” Showalter said. “I like the fact we’re giving him a lot of looks at different places. We’ve got options there. Everyone has a personal preference. The good news is he presents himself well at three or four positions.”

while Mauricio has been far from perfect at 3B, he's still learning at the mlb level...another rare compliment by Buck:
“He’s made some plays that not every third baseman will be able to make because of his arm strength,” Buck Showalter said of Mauricio. “I think he’s capable of representing himself well at all three [positions] in the infield.”

He's definitely been as good (or better) than advertised. I for one think the time in the minors this year likely helped him hone some skills before making the jump. He looks really polished, even if he's been struggling a little lately. I'd rather have him struggle now and get some of it out of his system before next year.

Not sure where to post this - but the Mets are going to have some hard choices for next year. Are they ready to give up on Baty? I think that would be a mistake. But if not, then how do you sign a proven star (or at least veteran) to play 3B or 2B? Do you pencil Mauricio in as a starter in 1 of those positions, again limiting your ability to have a proven player.
Acuna is still a half year away, but similar to the baby mets of this year, you can't expect success right away. So what do you do when in the throngs of trying to win the whole darn thing? And knowing buying a 26 man roster is likely unsustainable, even for Cohen, so you need prospects to develop somewhere, which includes growing pains.
Stearns is going to have some tough calls to make.
