Am I the only one hoping that someone other than the Braves or the Phillies overpay Freddie Freeman and he leaves the NL East?

Probably our top five in the system starting pitching prospect for a 33 year old coming on FACE surgery? A guy with exactly one good year, one so-so year and a COVID shorted year?
Me no likey.

It appears that brings us to at least 7 pitchers with at least 1/2 a season of MLB experience as a starter...The big 2 obviously, Taiwan Walker, Peterson, Megill, Carasco, Bassitt.

Haven't the Dodgers made a susbtantial offer to Freeman?

Haven't the Dodgers made a susbtantial offer to Freeman? that's one of the rumors around Freddy...It would be nice for one of the irrelevant overbidders like the Mariners or the Rangers to make him an offer that he can't refuse...The M's seriously overbid on Cano, whereas the Rangers seriously overbid on ARod...true both were awhile back, but neither team was a serious contender, yet gave out crazy contracts

I'm completely on the opposite side on this one, I like it a lot. Sure, Ginn could end up being great but it won't be in 2022. You figure he'll be up in 2023 and maybe truly effective in 2024. We've got deGrom and Scherzer now, and there's no guarantee they're both here (deGrom) or effective (Scherzer). This is the opportunity to do something. I also don't agree that Bassitt has only had one good year. Except for ERA his stats including WHIP were very good in 2019, and although 2020 was shortened things were consistent with 2019 and 2021. Sure, he might only have a handful of good years remaining given that he's 33 but he's not a power pitcher. To me this is a straight up timing trade, getting 2022-2023 with Bassitt for 2024+ for Ginn.

It sure looks like Freeman will be in LA. Big spenders who have lost a big part of the lineup in Seager and want that rock in the middle of the new lineup. Texas has already done a good deal of overspending and Seattle sure seems to be all-in on trades.
The only glimmer of hope for both of the AL West teams? They sure don't have much at 1B.

To me this is a straight up timing trade, getting 2022-2023 with Bassitt for 2024+ for Ginn. especially with Jake saying that he's breaking his contract when the season ends, since obviously nobody can feed their family off of $95.5 Mil over the next 3 seasons (and here I thought Jake wasn't a typical money hungry celebrity)...and you don't know what we'll get out of Corrasco, Walker, Megill, and Peterson. All have shown promise at times, and doubt at other times

You knew Jake was just as money hungry as the rest when he fired his agent immediately after seeing what Cole signed for. If DeGrom has a healthy year, its not a shock that he'd opt out after seeing Scherzer just get 3 years @43 per year. If he doesn't have a healthy year, he'll use that 95M as a security blanket and stay nice and cozy.
All that said, I would be shocked if DeGrom ended up anywhere but Queens next year. I just can't see Steve Cohen letting that happen. He had to know signing Scherzer to that type of deal was guaranteeing the DeGrom release papers.

As someone said recently (I can't remember if it was here) now watch the Familia turnaround to the Familia of 2015.

The Blue Jays just picked up Matt Chapman in a trade. They are loading up for a run at the Yanks and Sox. The A's are re-building once again.

Yeah talk about a complete tear down of a team once again. The Oakland situation is messy with the owner holding the city for ransom trying to get a new park, but this might not be the way to do it. Chapman is a huge pickup for Toronto, his glove will travel and his power will pick up in the move from a spacious park to a hitter-friendly one.
